FTCA Service of Process
Updated: Sep 23
Federal Tort Claims Act matters can involve both an administrative claim process and later federal-court litigation. The recipient structure and service requirements depend on the stage of the matter.
TOFG can coordinate administrative delivery, agency routing, service packets, certified or registered mailing where required, federal recipient lists, tracking, and proof-of-service records.
When litigation is filed, service may involve the United States Attorney, the Attorney General, and other required recipients. Agency-specific delivery may also be relevant depending on the claim and procedural posture.
Clients should provide the agency involved, claim number if one exists, court and case number if suit has been filed, relevant deadlines, and all documents to be served.
TOFG's role is logistical, administrative, clerical, and educational.
